What’s up? I’m Mon. ☺️
I’m a UX researcher and strategist with 10 years of experience spanning UX research, product design, DesignOps, and UX leadership. I currently run UX research for the global website of a tax technology company, helping teams bring customer insight into both long-term direction and everyday decisions.
My career started in software and front-end development, where my interest in technology and visual design gradually became a deeper curiosity about people – how they think, what they need, and how they experience the things we create. My technical background includes C++, C#, Java, PHP, Python, and R, along with MySQL, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. It also shaped how I collaborate with cross-functional teams and work within Scrum, SAFe, Lean Agile, and Lean UX environments.
Before moving into my current research consultancy role, I led distributed teams of UX designers and researchers across the Philippines (including Manila and Cebu), India, the United States, Costa Rica, and Brazil. Through DesignOps and global UX leadership, I guided teams across cultures and time zones, managed capacity and delivery, aligned stakeholders, and helped maintain the quality of research and design work across complex projects. That experience shaped my ability to adapt to different working cultures, lead with empathy, and build systems that help teams do their best work.
Outside UX, I’m pursuing a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of the Philippines Diliman, specializing in Human Factors and Ergonomics. My interest in people and inclusion also extends beyond my work: I previously advocated for youth leadership and participated as a delegate in United Nation Student Leadership Conference and Ten Outstanding Students in the Philippines – Youth Hours. Today, I advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, inclusive design, and accessibility.
I’m also deeply interested in art, theater, film, and travel, and I enjoy learning from different people, places, and perspectives.
